Effective May 14, 2026
Pair is a careful daily companion. We treat the things you tell us with care, and we try to write this policy the way we'd want one written for us. If anything below is unclear, email hello@datewise.io and we will explain it like a human.
Who we are
Pair is operated by Datewise, Inc., a Delaware corporation. References to "we," "us," and "Pair" mean the same entity throughout this policy.
What we collect
You give us, directly
- Account: email, password (hashed), display name, optional timezone and locale.
- Conversations: the messages you send Pair and the responses Pair sends back. The contents of your profile that Pair builds over time from those conversations (your values, relationship history, patterns you've shared).
- Photos, if you upload them. Photos are moderated and never shown to another user without your bilateral consent.
- Matches and messages with other users, if you opt into the matchmaker. Subject to a strict information firewall — Pair never quotes one user verbatim to another.
- Feedback you give about Pair's responses (a thumbs-up or thumbs-down on a message).
Automatic
- Device + session telemetry: the device platform, app version, request timestamps, anonymized IP for abuse prevention. Retained 90 days.
- Push token, if you allow notifications. Used only to deliver Pair's own messages.
Why we collect it
Strictly to provide the service: to know you over time so Pair can be a useful companion and coach; to enable matchmaking; to keep the product safe and abuse-free. We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. We do not let advertisers profile you on our platform — there are no advertisers on our platform.
Who can see it
- You, always.
- Pair the agent, which runs on infrastructure we control. Your conversations with Pair are not used to train any third-party model. We may use anonymized patterns (no names, places, or identifying events) from helpful conversations to improve Pair's responses — only when you've rated the response "helpful" and only after a sanitization step.
- Another user, only with your explicit consent at the moment of an introduction — and even then, only the specific data the introduction needs, never your raw conversation history. This is called the information firewall and it is non-negotiable.
- Subprocessors: Neon (Postgres), Upstash (Redis), Fly.io (application hosting), OpenRouter (LLM inference routing), OpenAI (embeddings only — not raw chat text), Resend (transactional email from hello@datewise.io), RevenueCat (subscription billing), Cloudflare (CDN + moderation). Each is bound by a data processing agreement.
How long we keep it
- Account + profile: as long as the account is active. Deleted on request within 30 days.
- Session and chat history: 90 days of full-fidelity history, then condensed into observations Pair uses to remember you. The raw turns can be removed sooner on request.
- Logs + telemetry: 90 days.
- Backups: rolling 30-day window, encrypted at rest.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion at any time by emailing hello@datewise.io. We will respond within 30 days (GDPR / CCPA require this; we'd do it anyway). You can withdraw consent for anything except what we need to operate your account.
Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. JWT secrets are rotated. Data in transit is TLS 1.2+. Data at rest in Postgres + Redis is encrypted by the provider. Photos are stored in an access-controlled bucket and served only via short-lived signed URLs after a mutual-match check. Internal access is on need-to-know with audit logs.
Children
Pair is not for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, write to hello@datewise.io and we will delete the account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects your data, we'll email you from hello@datewise.io before the change takes effect. The "Effective" date at the top of this page is canonical.
